Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2009

Queen's Award PresentationThe Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the MBE for volunteer groups, was created in 2002 to recognise the outstanding contributions made by voluntary organisations in local communities across the UK.

In 2009, Prudhoe Community Allotment was one of over 400 voluntary organisations who were awarded this supreme award. The award was in recognition for the work undertaken since the allotment project began in 2000.

Members of  Prudhoe Community Allotment were invited to a special ceremony at Alnwick Castle, where Joan Russell, Allotment Co-ordinator on behalf of the group, was presented with a commemorative crystal and a certificate by the Duchess of Northumberland.
